D365 FO Functional Consultant Contractor

Location: Chicago IL (Loop) Hybrid (2 to 3 days onsite) some travel required
Duration: 6-Month Contract (strong possibility of extension)
Compensation: Market rate $70/hr to $90/Hr W2 or (Corp-to-Corp preferred; competitive market rate)
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship now or in the future)

Position Summary

Our client is undertaking a large-scale ERP transformation implementing Microsoft D365. The F&O Finance Consultant will serve as a client-side functional expert supporting the project from the perspective of F&O through business analysis solution validation and hands-on system support activities. This role will be heavily focused on the projects Finance Workstream but will also interact often with the operational workstream as it relates to F&O.

This role is responsible for representing business interests ensuring that finance-related requirements are accurately reflected in the D365 solution and validating vendor-delivered designs and configurations. The consultant will work closely with Finance stakeholders ERP Business Analysts and implementation partners and will actively engage in D365 environments to support testing validation and issue resolution.

Primary Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Functional Ownership

Partner with Finance stakeholders to validate business requirements across areas such as General Ledger Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable Fixed Assets Treasury and Financial Reporting.

Ensure requirements align with approved design decisions accounting principles and reporting needs.

Support Finance leadership and the ERP Program team in evaluating solution options and making informed design decisions.

D365 Finance Configuration & Hands-On Support

Perform hands-on activities within D365 Finance environments (DEV TEST UAT) including:

o Reviewing and validating functional configurations

o Supporting data setup and parameter validation

o Assisting with issue investigation and resolution

Support execution and validation of functional integration and user acceptance testing.

Assist with security role validation and finance-related access design testing.

Vendor Deliverable Review & Quality Assurance

Review and validate vendor-delivered artifacts such as:

o Functional Design Documents

o Test scripts and testing results

o Data migration and reconciliation outputs

Identify document and escalate functional gaps risks or inconsistencies.

Program Support

Support planning and execution activities as they relate to F&O including cutover readiness and go-live preparation.

Collaborate with ERP Business Analysts Solution Architects Data Integration and Security teams.

Assist with F&O user training support knowledge transfer and post-go-live stabilization activities as required.

Skills / Specifications

At least 5 years experience working in D365 F&O with a Finance focus with strong exective presence able to be the Technofunctional Bridge between D365 language and business.

Strong D365 Finance configuration skills are a must. Operations and CE is a plus. Know Full SDLC Experience - Not just configuration experience but testing cutover migration etc.

Strong functional knowledge of financial processes and reporting.

Proven ability to translate business requirements into ERP system requirements.

Experience reviewing and validating ERP designs configurations and testing artifacts.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Comfortable working hands-on in ERP environments while maintaining a business-focused perspective.
