Job Title: Payroll Coordinator
Location: San Marcos CA (Hybrid 1 day onsite per week)
Type: Contract (6 9 Months)
Pay Rate: $28 $32/hr (W2)
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Coordinator to support a high-volume payroll environment within a healthcare setting. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations and supporting employees and managers with payroll-related inquiries. The position offers a hybrid schedule with one on-site day per week.
Key Responsibilities:

Process and distribute payroll accurately and on schedule

Support payroll functions including timecards taxes garnishments and reconciliations

Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries

Run audit and validate payroll reports for accuracy
-
Process manual checks reversals adjustments and PTO accruals
-
Assist with tax reporting W-2 processing and audit support
-
Ensure compliance with applicable payroll laws and regulations

Educate managers and employees on payroll systems and procedures
-
Support process improvements and special payroll-related projects
Required Qualifications:

Must have Workday experience
-
Minimum 2 years of business clerical and payroll processing experience

Proficiency in MS Excel Word Access and Windows-based systems
-
High School Diploma or equivalent (education/training/experience combination acceptable)

Strong customer service and communication skills
-
Excellent attention to detail organization and problem-solving ability
-
Ability to work effectively in a high-volume payroll environment
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Accounting Business or related field
-
3 years of high-volume payroll processing experience
-
Prior supervisory or leadership experience
-
Healthcare industry experience
-
Experience with Lawson and API Time & Attendance systems
