Location: Hybrid Hartford CT / Charlotte NC / Columbus OH (Local preferred Open to relocation)

Position Overview
Looking for a strong hands-on Java API Lead/Architect to drive a major modernization initiative focused on redesigning a scalable insurance policy document generation system.
This role involves end-to-end ownership (Design Build Deploy Monitor) with heavy focus on API architecture legacy modernization and AWS cloud-native development.
Core Requirements
- 8 years strong hands-on Java
- Expertise in API Design (REST OpenAPI scalable architecture)
- Experience building API-driven platforms
- Strong Data Modeling (simplifying complex legacy systems)
- Proven experience in Legacy Modernization initiatives
- Hands-on AWS (API Gateway cloud-native development)
- CI/CD tools (Jenkins GitHub)
- Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
- Solid DevSecOps pipeline understanding
- Domain: Insurance preferred (Open to Healthcare / Banking / Financial Services)
Huge Plus (Do NOT fake these skills)
- Document generation / templating systems
- Content management (Documentum or similar)
- Pega (API Integration only NOT development)
- Microservices architecture
- MCP / Agentic AI exposure
