Position Overview
The Arizona Department of Revenue (AZDOR) is seeking an experienced Auditor to support its Education and Compliance division. This role is responsible for assisting with corporate tax audits reviewing amended returns and ensuring compliance with Arizona tax laws rulings and case law.
The ideal candidate will have corporate tax experience strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a primarily remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist corporate audit teams with audits and amended corporate tax return reviews
Conduct audits of medium-to-high complexity corporate taxpayers
Perform technical reviews of audit work and recommend actions on amended returns
Collect organize and analyze taxpayer data to identify audit opportunities
Support the audit selection program by identifying potential leads
Review and update audit procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency
Recommend process improvements for the corporate audit team
Actively participate in team meetings one-on-ones and huddles
Ensure adherence to Arizona tax laws regulations and internal procedures
Required Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of continuous corporate tax return experience (government agency or accounting firm)
Bachelors degree in Accounting or a closely related field
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel Word and Google Workspace
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with corporate tax filing and auditing
Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting or related discipline (preferred if not already met at required level)
Additional Requirements
Must be a local candidate (Phoenix AZ area) at time of submission
Must be able to start within 2 weeks of offer
Ability to work flexible hours as needed
Must have reliable high-speed internet for remote work
Occasional in-office work may be required
Must attend first day of orientation onsite
Successful completion of background check and tax compliance check required
