About the Role
We are seeking a Med-Surg RN for a 13-week day shift contract at Heywood Hospital in Gardner MA. This is a great opportunity for a nurse with Med-Surg experience who is comfortable in a patient-centered acute care setting and able to support safe effective care across the unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient care based on standards of care protocols and established policies
- Complete timely and accurate documentation of patient status interventions and responses
- Provide patient and family education based on identified needs
- Support medication administration and IV therapy in accordance with physician orders
- Recognize abnormal lab and diagnostic results and notify physicians appropriately
- Assess and manage patient pain and response to interventions
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and care planning
- Support safe use of traction orthopedic devices feeding pumps chest tubes drains and related equipment
- Prioritize patient care and respond appropriately in urgent or life-threatening situations
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Active Massachusetts RN license
- BLS required
- ACLS upon hire or active BLS with AHA ACLS obtained within 60 days of hire
- 1 year Med-Surg experience preferred
- Previous telemetry experience preferred
- MOAB class required within 60 days of hire
