The Press Operator plays a vital role in the print production process by overseeing the operation and maintenance of offset press equipment. This position requires strong technical skills and attention to detail to ensure the production of high-quality printed materials. Responsibilities include setting up the press loading plates adjusting ink and water balance monitoring print quality throughout production runs and performing routine maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance.
Responsibilities
Set up machines and maintain print quality throughout each production run.
Change press plates blankets and cylinders as needed.
Clean ink fountains plates and change units when required.
Operate machines at optimal speed to meet production standards.
Perform machine adjustments to maximize productivity.
Conduct regular quality checks to ensure standards are met.
Recalibrate equipment as necessary.
Set and maintain color accuracy.
Communicate job status production updates and concerns during shift transitions.
Report quality issues to the Team Lead and assist in resolving them.
Follow all workplace safety procedures and guidelines.
Accurately track job counts make-readies and waste.
Identify print defects and make corrections as needed.
Support additional production activities to ensure team success.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 3 years of experience in offset printing as a Press Operator.
Skills & Abilities
Strong understanding of printing principles color management and print finishing processes.
Knowledge of mechanical operations and maintenance processes.
Ability to read and interpret job instructions.
Comfortable working with both computer systems and mechanical equipment.
Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
Ability to monitor production equipment for speed and quality performance.
Reliable detail-oriented and able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods (10 12 hours on concrete surfaces).
