This position willassistwith the Klondike River sonar programenumeratingChinook salmon on the Klondike River. Daily work tasks will include checking Klondike River water levels physically adjusting the fish counting sonar and station sonar data compilations and reviewspossible carcasspitch at the end of the spawning season and other duties as. The incumbent will alsoassistthe TH Fish and Wildlife Branch with the Klondike River Stock Restoration Project. This project will take place at various locations on the Klondike and North Klondike Rivers. This aspect of the project focuses on the respectful collection of adult broodstock Chinook salmon (spawners) so that TH can continue with its stock restoration project. This work is performed in and near theriverand applicants must be knowledgeable in working around fast flowing waters. This position will be primarily in a camp setting in and around Dawson City. Helicopter flights aerial surveys and river patrols may also be required.
An Eligibility List may beestablishedfrom this competition the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time permanent part-time temporary full-time temporary part-time termor auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

EssentialQualifications:
- Working knowledge and skills in personal safetywildernessand remote First Aid.
- Water safety (i.e. swift water rescue National Lifesaver etc.) or willingness to obtain.
- Excellent monitoring and reporting skills.
- Knowledge ofTrondëkHwëchinTraditional Territory and Settlement Lands and the TH Final Agreement.
- Knowledge of fish and wildlife issues affecting Yukon First Nations People.
- Ability to work in off-grid camp settings and in inclement weather conditions.
- Ability to use a computer and spreadsheets to learn associated software.
- Experience and/or knowledge of fisheries field work or Fish and Wildlife management with a particular emphasis onfisheriesan asset.
Conditions of Employment:
- Remote First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- TH101 Cultural Awareness training.
