POSITION SUMMARY
The Body Fabrication Intern is responsible for the aluminum metal fabrication of multiple components of the fire apparatus body. They will precisely measure all dimensions and ensure they are positioned correctly. They must be able to read and follow blueprints/specifications to complete objectives. A Body Fabrication Intern welds sands cuts and bolts materials to build the body of the fire apparatus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Fabricates the aluminum body on the fire apparatus.
- Precisely measures all dimensions and ensures they are positioned correctly.
- Reads and follows blueprints and specifications to complete objectives.
- Welds sands cuts and bolts materials to build the body of the fire apparatus.
- Checks the work of the blueprints and specifications to ensure that it will result in a workable product.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
Tools to be utilized:
Hand tools power tools grinders cut off wheels saw shear welders and tape measure.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS):The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
(K) nowledge Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma/GED.
- Previous welding experience required.
- 3 years of previous MIG Aluminum/MIG Steel required.
- Welding certificate preferred.
- Strong mechanical and technical ability required.
(S) kills:
Language:
- Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books.
- Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions.
Math:
Able to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers fractions and decimals.
Computer:
- Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.
(A) bilities:
- Able to identify quality issues recognize changes within the production process and adjust as needed.
- Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
- Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
- Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.

Required Experience:
Intern
