Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable 20-Ton Forklift Operator / Yard Technician to join our team in New Orleans Louisiana. This position involves operating large-capacity forklifts to safely move equipment materials and vessels within a marina or boatyard environment.
In addition to forklift operation the selected candidate will assist with general yard operations including organizing equipment maintaining a clean workspace and supporting other yard tasks as needed. This role also requires direct interaction with boat owners and customers so a professional and customer-oriented attitude is essential.
The ideal candidate will be safety-focused comfortable working outdoors and capable of performing a variety of physically demanding tasks in a busy marine environment. Experience operating or tying up small boats is preferred but we are willing to train the right person.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate a 20-ton forklift to move materials equipment and vessels within the yard.
Conduct pre-operation inspections and ensure equipment is operating safely.
Follow all safety regulations and company procedures during equipment operation.
Assist boat owners and customers during yard operations and vessel staging.
Provide professional and courteous customer service when interacting with boat owners.
Assist with handling and securing small boats when needed.
Support general yard maintenance and operational tasks as needed.
Maintain a clean safe and organized work environment.
Must Haves
Experience operating large-capacity forklifts (20-ton or similar heavy equipment preferred).
Strong focus on safety and proper equipment operation.
Customer-oriented personality with the ability to interact professionally with boat owners.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and moving materials.
Dependable work ethic and willingness to assist with various yard duties.
Preferred
Experience working in a marina boatyard shipyard or industrial yard.
Forklift operator certification or willingness to obtain certification.
Experience operating heavy material handling equipment.
Experience operating or tying up small boats.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Experience supporting yard operations or facility maintenance tasks.
Work Environment
Outdoor work environment in a marina or boatyard setting.
Physically demanding work involving heavy equipment and materials.
May require weekend or extended hours during peak seasons.
