The Role:
First Line Riskteamsat M&G support the First Line Business Areas withnon-financialrisk management and risk reporting in line with the relevantM&GPolicies Frameworks and Standards. They act as first point of contact for the Business Operational Risk Compliance and Audit in relation to risk and control matters for their respective Business Area or the Business Unitin order torepresentthe different areas/businesses within private markets including theiracquired companies. The role is for aPrivate MarketsBusiness Risk PartnertosupporttheStructuredFinanceand Private Creditbusinesses primarilybutalso being abletocontribute torisk and controlsactivitiesacrossthewiderPrivate Marketsbusinessworking closely with theHead ofRiskPrivate Marketsand the senior leadership team inrisk andPrivate Markets.
The role supports senior leaders throughdeliveringhighquality governance clearinsightand proportionatechallenge. It helps enable leaders todemonstratethat risks are owned understoodcontrolledand managed within M&Gs risk appetite. The roleoperateswith significant visibility acting as a trusted firstline risk and control partner to management and governance forums.
Key Activities / Responsibilities Include:
RepresentFirst line risk as appropriateatrelevantgovernance forums and with the relevant stakeholdersalso supportingthe execution of strategic projects and initiativesfrom a Risk perspective.
Act as a liaison coordination point between theStructuredFinanceand Private Creditbusiness units within Private Markets including the acquired companies asappropriate.
Support the management of Risk Events arising in the Structured Finance and Private Credit businesses in line with Operational Risk requirements.
Support the management of Structured Finance and Private Credit related Issues and Actions to ensure alignment with the Operational Risk requirements andtimelyclosure of issues and actions.
Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) -Identifyand manage top risks and mitigating actions/controls with the RCSA Owners in Structured Finance and Private Credit.
Conflicts of Interest management -Identifyand manage conflicts of interestmaintainconflicts register and mitigating actions/controlsfor the Structured Finance and Private Credit businesses.
Conflicts of Interest management-Lead the identification reporting and maintenanceofthe relevant Conflicts of Interest Registerentriesin MetricStreamfor theStructured Finance and Private Credit businesses including monitoringmitigatingactions/controls.
Oversee Key Control Assessments (KCAs) and other control testing (e.g. led by Audit) being the key point of contact around risk and controls discussions and issuesfortheStructured Finance and Private Credit businesses.
Support remediation of control deficiencies audit findings regulatoryissuesand selfidentifiedissues working closely with business owners to achievetimelyand sustainable outcomes.
Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of supporting artefacts such asriskprocess maps controllibrariesand underlying documentation to reflect the true operating environment.
Risk monitoring - Monitor risk and control environment e.g. MI across conduct risk reputational riskfinancial crime.third-party suppliers business risks valuations resiliencyforStructured Finance and Private Credit.
Identifyand manage emerging risks proactively forStructured Finance and Private Credit e.g. via trend analysisdialogue with the businesses on industry and geo-political developments etc.
Perform or support with thematic reviews/deep divesaswith focus on key emerging risks delivering key risk insights for management.
Support with the risk management of Model and User-developed Application (MUDA) risksacross Structured Finance and Private Credit.
Support with the identificationand reportingof risk appetite working closely with senior SMEs to understand risk metrics and linkage to appetite.
Risk Governance & Reporting Review / enhance / prepare risk and control-related papers for governance forumsas.
Risk and control SME advice - Support the First Lineacross Structured Finance and Private Creditwithrisk related queries and questions as well as supportingthe maintenance and roll out of the risk and control framework.
Knowledge Skills & Experience
Experience working in a first/secondline riskcontrolor governance role within a regulated financial services environment.
(Desirable) Knowledge of asset management investment products specifically private market asset classes and operationalenvironmentswould be beneficial.
Strong understanding of risk management frameworkstoolsand methodologies including RCSAs control designtestingand assurance.
Experience preparing and presenting risk and control materials for senior management and governance forums.
Proven ability to produce clearstructuredand highquality management information and analysis.
