Pay Grade: NE6 Hiring Range - $16.71 $19.78 - $22.82 - Commensurate with Verified Qualifications

SUMMARY:

The Members Assistance Program Specialist is responsible for processing program applications answering questions and ensuring an efficient operation from intake to completion at our two (2) Family Services Department service locations Manistee and Muskegon. The position will also provide routine administrative support functions for the department.


EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED; and
  • Work experience of two (2) or more years as an Administrative Assistant or Case Aid or similar; and
  • Knowledge of all other Little River programs and services may be required to refer for services; and
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan drivers license with the ability to be insured under the companys insurance policy.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists members in accessing services of department providing referrals to other tribal programs or outside agencies as necessary.
  2. Helping clients with paperwork such as program applications for benefits and providing ongoing support and follow-up.
  3. Ensure completeness of program applications and process in accordance with program requirements.
  4. Maintains program logs program databases and phone logs.
  5. Processes check requests for payments to vendors.
  6. Maintains department hardcopy and electronic files in accordance with department requirements. Ensure files are complete orderly and readily accessible at all times.
  7. Maintains compliance with all applicable tribal federal or state laws and procedures including grant funded program requirements.
  8. Assists supervisor with the research and compilation of data required for report development.
  9. Composes types and edits a variety of correspondence reports memoranda and other such documents.
  10. Processes mass and/or individual mailings to membership.
  11. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of work and complies with all applicable tribal federal or state laws and procedures.
  12. All other position/department related duties as assigned by supervisor.

None


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sitting for long periods of time frequent walking and occasional reaching bending kneeling or stretching is to be expected. The nature of the work also involves manual dexterity to operate office equipment and while keyboarding. An employee will need normal or corrected to normal range of sight and hearing and will carry work-related materials up to fifty (50) pounds. The employee may be required to provide service in home settings which may require climbing of stairs and driving a motor vehicle for transportation.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment. The employees work schedule may periodically need to be flexible and adjusted according to business need. The employee must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional as well as be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Occasional overnight or local travel will be necessary to attend meetings or trainings.
