Scope: The Delaware Chapter of the Sierra Club seeks a strategic collaborative and equity-focused team member to shape and implement the Chapters outreach and advocacy efforts to build a healthier more sustainable and more equitable Delaware for all. The Chapter Coordinator is responsible for providing coordinating and administrative assistance to the Chapter Director staff and volunteer leaders. Implements programs and activities as determined by Chapter ExCom to enhance member effectiveness and involvement. Acts as an information resource for chapter volunteers and the general public. Maintains the Chapters records purchases supplies and equipment and processes invoices for payment.
Job Activities include but are not limited to:
Digital Communications and Content Coordination
With assistance from the Outreach and Engagement Committee develops and leads outreach strategies for the Chapter.
Lead the publication and sending of the Chapters end-of-year magazine.
Sends mass emails as necessary through the various Sierra Club platforms including Marketing Cloud Salesforce and Quorum.
Coordinates the Chapters digital communications and content strategy across social media email and the website. Draft edit and publish engaging content including graphics to maintain a dynamic online presence working with volunteers as much as possible to help create it. Collaborate with staff and volunteer leaders to deliver consistent messaging across all platforms.
Maintains Chapter calendar in coordination with Chapter Director staff and volunteer leaders.
Volunteer Coordination and Engagement
Recruits organizes and coordinates volunteers and volunteer outreach and services. Serves as an initial touchpoint for interested volunteers before referring them to appropriate committees staff and volunteer leaders and performs follow-ups with volunteers to ensure appropriate engagement has been achieved.
In coordination with staff and committee/volunteer leaders works to track the development of new/incoming volunteers into volunteer leaders along an appropriate ladder of engagement as they are onboarded into the Chapter workflow.
Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support chapter priority campaigns.
Support volunteers with building strong and active relationships with elected officials governmental agencies state and regional community leaders coalitions and other allied organizations.
Support volunteers in representing the chapter to elected and appointed officials community agencies and private organizations in support of campaigns and strategies adopted by the Executive Committee.
Compiles and maintains a directory of chapter and group leaders issue activists noting areas of interest and expertise.
Trains and coordinates volunteers on office systems and functions.
Coordinates the sending of monthly hand-addressed letters to all new members.
Event Planning and Logistics Coordination.
Working with the Conservation Outreach and Engagement and other necessary Committees owns the coordination of planning and logistics for Chapter events. This includes: Event planning logistics Campfire management advertising communication to registrants day of management scheduling and ensuring adequate volunteer involvement and communication
Identifies coordinates and participates in community outreach strategies including tabling events social networking events fundraisers and other outreach activities as required.
Ensure smooth execution of Chapter meetings fundraisers and other significant events working during evenings or weekends as required.
Administrative and Operational Support
Provides clerical and administrative support to Chapter Director Executive Committee and volunteer leaders. Assist Chapter staff and leaders with meeting coordination agenda preparation and general administrative support contributing to the smooth running of Chapter operations. Assists with bookkeeping duties including the processing of payables and receivables and upkeep/management of financial systems such as Salesforce Netsuite etc. running reports as necessary managing bank deposits in coordination with Chapter Director Executive Committee Chair and Treasurer.
Maintains files and databases including Campfire leadership mailing lists activist lists membership lists volunteers and contributors.
Responds to inquiries concerning membership outings events and environmental issues from the general public members and volunteers. Sorts incoming Chapter mail. Provides good public relations and customer service for the Club.
Prepares and files various communication event and fundraising reports and participates in staff meetings.
Attends meetings in the community on related Chapter issues and maintains communications with other organizations.
Fundraising and Development Support
Assists with the in-state planning and logistical support for fundraising and Chapter activities as needed consistent with Chapter priorities including grants coordinating meetings and preparing agendas.
Formats schedules and sends the fundraising emails in coordination with National and Chapter staff. Works with the Director and/or Fundraising Committee to prepare all fundraising appeals including with the mailings social media and email fundraising campaigns.
Assists with preparing appropriate donor lists recording of donations and preparing appropriate Thank You notes.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following skills experience and competencies:
Experience Working with Volunteers and Community Partners. You have a demonstrated ability to effectively engage and collaborate with volunteers and community this role you will lead orientations onboard new volunteers coordinate volunteer leaders efforts to support the Chapter and work closely with local organizations to foster partnerships that align with the Chapters advocacy and outreach goals.
Event Planning and Coordination. You have sharp attention to detail and proven experience managing logistics and deadlines for events. As Chapter Coordinator you will organize grassroots engagement events committee and team meetings ensuring everything from scheduling to volunteer coordination runs smoothly while also coordinating follow-ups and post-event reporting.
Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills. You have demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills allowing you to effectively engage with diverse this role you will draft compelling email newsletters social media content and outreach materials while also delivering clear instructions during volunteer orientations and public events.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary for this position is $49600.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining unit and is subject to the terms and conditions of the contract between Sierra Club and Progressive Workers Union or Sierra Employee Alliance depending on location.
