The Job
Working in close collaboration with country-level MEAL managers programme managers and HQ colleagues you will lead the development and continuous refinement of Mission EASTs organisational MEAL framework ensuring it is fit for purpose evidence-driven and aligned with our programme strategies and theories of change.
You will be the driving force behind institutionalising adaptive learning and results-based management across the organisation. This means not only building robust systems tools and data management processes but also fostering a culture where evidence informs decisions at every level from field teams and partners to senior leadership.
Specifically you will:
Shape organisational strategy and performance
Steer Mission EASTs organisational MEAL framework ensuring alignment across programme structures results frameworks and theories of change
Institutionalise adaptive learning and systems thinking and synthesise insights from monitoring and evaluation into strategic advice for senior management supporting sound decision-making on impact operations and advocacy
Lead the organisations CHS ECHO and other certification processes and oversee compliance with donor standards including GDPR
Build and strengthen MEAL systems
Maintain robust MEAL systems across the organisation and embed results-based management across HQ and country offices including robust indicators value-for-money frameworks and adaptive monitoring approaches
Oversee MEAL and project databases data quality processes standards and policy compliance as well as feedback and complaints mechanisms
Ensure data is collected stored and used safely ethically and in line with Mission EASTs data protection commitments
Drive learning and accountability
Systematise and facilitate structured learning processes e.g. annual reviews lessons learned sessions and cross-unit knowledge sharing ensuring insights lead to tangible improvements
Contribute to shared learning between Engagement Programme and Country teams maintain the digital Knowledge Centre and support annual and IATI reporting from a MEAL perspective
Work with communications colleagues to translate evidence into compelling visibility and advocacy materials
Invest in people and capacity
Train and support partners field offices and HQ staff on MEAL systems quality standards tools and good practice and provide MEAL advice along the whole programme cycle
Nurture country-level MEAL teams as a coherent connected community of practice
Support MEAL recruitment processes across the organisation
This is a staff function reporting to either the Secretary General or the International Director

This role is for someone who combines technical depth with strategic vision someone who can draft advocacy bullet points for the management in the morning provide input into a programme results framework at midday and facilitate a reflective learning session in the afternoon. You are equally comfortable advising senior leadership and building the confidence of a field-based data collector. You believe that accountability is not a compliance exercise but a commitment to the people Mission EAST serves.
Your Experience & Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in designing managing and strengthening MEAL systems in humanitarian and/or development contexts
Strong knowledge of MEAL frameworks log frames and Theory of Change development
Solid understanding of CHS donor compliance requirements (including ECHO) Value-for-Money approaches and GDPR
Proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies and hands-on experience with digital data collection tools
Proven experience in capacity building facilitation and training of diverse teams across organisational levels
It is an advantage if you also have:
Advanced degree in a relevant field (social sciences development studies statistics or related discipline) or equivalent professional experience
Experience working in or with organisations operating in fragile or conflict-affected contexts
Familiarity with IATI reporting standards
Experience leading or contributing to CHS certification or audit processes
Knowledge of Results-Based Management approaches
Experience with data visualisation tools and/or MEAL database management
Skills & Competencies
Strong systems thinking able to see and work across the whole organisational picture not just individual programmes
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to synthesise complex data into clear actionable insights for varied audiences
Strong written and verbal communication skills in Danish and English including the ability to produce high-quality reports guidance documents and learning materials in both languages (communication and cooperation with Danish stakeholders are part of this role)
High integrity and sound judgement in handling sensitive data and confidential information
Ability to work collaboratively and with cultural sensitivity across diverse teams geographies and organisational levels
Strong coordination and organisational skills
It is an advantage if you also have:
Knowledge in languages relevant to Mission EASTs operational contexts
Experience working in a small-to-medium sized NGO where versatility and initiative are essential
