Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Sexual Health Clinic team in Newcastle or Tamworth Community Health. This role focuses on supporting Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) services for Medicare-ineligible people across the district ensuring equitable access to essential sexual health care.

About the Role
As a Registered Nurse within the Sexual Health Clinics you will support the delivery of PrEP services and sexual health care for priority populations across the Hunter New England region / Tamworth. The Local Health District operates three sexual health clinic sites and while the role may be primarily based at one site travel within the district will be required.
You will also contribute to outreach programs including services delivered to remote PALM worker locations such as farms and abattoirs ensuring safe and effective access to care for hard-to-reach populations. This work will involve significant planning and coordination to support outreach activities.
Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of PrEP services for Medicare-ineligible clients
Conduct clinical assessments and patient education
Assist with STI screening management and health promotion
Participate in contact tracing and sexual health follow-up
Deliver outreach services to priority populations including PALM workers
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Maintain strict confidentiality consent and public health standards

Essential Skills and Experience
Current Registered Nurse registration
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated experience in clinical assessment and patient education
Understanding of confidentiality consent and public health principles
Ability and willingness to travel within the Local Health District
Highly Desirable Experience
Sexual health or HIV care
Womens health infectious diseases or primary health care
STI management and contact tracing
Immunisation experience
Working with priority populations including:
LGBTQIA communities
Culturally and linguistically diverse populations
Migrant or seasonal workers
