Job Summary

As an Engineering Manager you work with the Product Team (around 6 Software Engineers and a Product Owner). Product Teams are grouped in a business domain called Customer Lifecycle & Engagement. Building on your experience in delivering software products and leading people you coach your team on how to improve effectiveness. You also support individuals in defining their personal development strategy and help them execute it.

Main responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the successful delivery of the Product Teams commitments by setting clear goals and expectations.
  • Maintain a high standard of technical excellence by promoting best practices and staying aligned with industry trends.
  • Create an inspiring environment with open communication and strong collaboration across the whole zooplus organization.
  • Ensure teams are aligned with zooplus business and technology strategy operating model and engineering guidelines.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic guidelines as well as organizational and technical frameworks and processes.
  • Act as an agile driver and coach for the software delivery process.
  • Grow and develop motivated and qualified team members to meet business and technology expectations.
  • Actively participate in recruitment and retention to ensure a strong and balanced Product Team.
  • Collaborate with the Domain Engineering Manager to define product technology strategy and optimize costs.
  • Partner closely with the Product Owner to maximize the value delivered through technology.
  • Contribute hands-on to the products owned by the team when needed.

Qualifications :

  • At least 8 years of experience in Software Development.
  • Strong software engineering and system design fundamentals with hands-on experience.
  • Proven experience in people management and leading engineering teams.
  • Strong expertise in agile methodologies and practices.
  • Experience working in internationally distributed teams.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java/Kotlin as primary languages with Python as an important secondary language.
  • Solid understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
  • Experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Knowledge of synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns.
  • Experience with designing systems for processing large volumes of data.
  • Experience with application monitoring and observability.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern delivery practices.
  • Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL Oracle).
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases.
