We are now looking for aFull Stack Developerto join our Product and Engineering team to work onThe Filter. The Filter team ensures in-depth product reviews are captured and presented in the best way possible enabling readers to make informed decisions before they click through to purchase.
The team is cross-functional comprising product engineering and design staff who are all passionate and take pride in what they do and how they do it. Technology ownership spans across the full stack utilising TypeScript Scala React Emotion Play and many other frameworks integrating these seamlessly with various 3rd party advertising and affiliate marketing technologies.
About the role
- Youll be coding on the frontend and backend to make an impact towards your teams objectives.
- Youll be working in a cross-functional team which is empowered to rapidly iterate and release new features.
- You wont be coding in isolation - our culture is strongly collaborative whether pair programming with other developers or working closely with editorial and commercial colleagues.
- Youll be involved with both technical and product decisions - often shaping what to build is as challenging as building it.
- Youll be encouraged to grow - we will support you in learning new skills and technologies whether thats moving between teams attending courses or giving you time to learn.
About you
- Youll be comfortable working on the back-end and front-end. We typically use Scala and Typescript; you may not be familiar with Scala yet but you should have working knowledge of an equivalent back-end programming language (e.g. Java Python).
- If you have a Javascript background but dont have familiarity with Typescript you should be happy to learn Typescript on the job.
- You are a creative passionate and intelligent person who loves web technologies.
- You are excited by the opportunity to shape the future of digital journalism.
- Your interests go beyond just your teams objectives; you are curious about where the organisation is moving as a whole.
- You have a strong interest in growing your skills and career.

Our developers operate in a hybrid environment working 1 day a week from our offices in Kings Cross and 4 days a week remotely.
The salary for new full stack developers at the Guardian starts at 57000 per annum.
