Hardware Development Manager, Devices

Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Inc. originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then we have produced ground breaking devices like Kindle Fire tablets Fire TV and Amazon Echo etc.

The Role:
As a Hardware Development manager you will manage team of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. We are looking for candidates who thrive in a fast paced start-up like your manager role you and your team will be the owner of all aspects of hardware design including circuit/board design hardware validation mechanical design and cost-effective work related to hardware design. To be successful you need to be highly motivated and detail oriented while showing highest standards of responsibilities. Youll collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to identify opportunities to drive efficiencies for the teams deliverables.


Key job responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of electrical and mechanical engineers providing them technical guidance and mentorship while fostering a supportive and high-performing team culture.
- Drive organizational alignment for the team to ensure you can broaden the teams impact while mitigating risks.
- Drive team to deep dive complex issue analysis
- Lead team to carry out hardware design changes to improve quality.
- Lead team to identify opportunities and mechanisms to improve the team influence and business impact such as cost-effective opportunities cost avoidance
- Work with vendors and CMs to ensure engagement models and associated requirements are streamlined


- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 7 years of new hardware products development experience
- 3 years of Experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team directly responsible for hardware design.
- Experience with the project management of technical projects

- Masters degree in Electrical Mechanical Power Engineering or a related field
- Experience developing products for large volume production
- Experience managing teams of 8 engineers
