The Opportunity Tasmanias largest tertiary hospital (500 beds) and the statewide referral centre for a broad range of specialist services. As a Level 3 teaching hospital it offers an exceptional training environment with exposure to complex and diverse case mixes. Cardiothoracic and neurosurgical services
Comprehensive diagnostic facilities
Strong subspecialty support
A 20-bed ICU for high-acuity care
About the Department The Department of General and Acute Care Medicine is the largest inpatient medical unit at RHH:
6090 inpatients daily
1520 admissions per day
5 Acute Medical teams including:
Rapid Assessment Medical Unit (RAMU)
Emergency Department-based medical team
Youll be supervised by experienced Specialists many with subspecialty expertise creating a rich and supportive learning environment.
Training Program Highlights This is a well-structured and accredited Advanced Training program aligned with Royal Australasian College of Physicians requirements. Rotations include:
Core General Medicine
RAMU & ED-based General Medicine
6-month subspecialty terms in:
Respiratory
Nephrology
Stroke/Neurology
Cardiology
Gastroenterology
Accreditation:
24 months Core Training
12 months Non-core Training
Contract:
Initial 12-month appointment
Potential extension to 23 years for suitable candidates
Both full-time and one 0.5 FTE part-time position are available.

Day-to-day management of inpatient and outpatient care
Participation in outpatient clinics
After-hours and emergency cover
Essential Requirements
Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (General or Limited)
Working with Children Registration (if applicable)
Satisfactory pre-employment checks
Highly Desirable
Completion of Basic Physician Training with Royal Australasian College of Physicians
