Principal Engineer Geologist

AECOMs Enterprise Capabilities team is looking for a Principal Engineer Geologist (Ground Investigation) to join our team in Madrid.

We are looking to hire a Principal Engineer Geologist (Ground Investigation) within the Site Survey & Investigation Specialist Team (ASSIST) which delivers survey and investigation fieldwork across the UK and Ireland.

Here is what you will do:

• Prepare and develop bids in order to procure Ground Investigation projects.

• Prepare and Plan small to large-scale Ground Investigation projects across the UK.

• Liaise with Client and Principal Design representatives to ensure that projects meet with expectations and deadlines.

• Liaise and manage subcontractor relationships.

• Have good technical awareness/experience of specifications and implementing in accordance with the contract and design requirements.

• Ensure the correctness and completeness of all deliverables (reports drawings etc.) to ensure they meet specifications (quality) and are consistent with field conditions etc.

• Assist the wider sector geotechnical team in preparation of contractual correspondence as required.

• Be willing to travel within the UK as the nature of the geotechnical projects may require traveling to project sites.

• Perform other responsibilities or duties associated with this geotechnical position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications :

• Ability to collaborate closely with our Technical Directors and Associates in project delivery work winning and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.

• Actively input to team and client meetings being prepared to own decisions and put forward alternative ideas and concepts.

• Provide on the job mentoring of junior staff and support them towards achieving chartered status.

• Proven leadership experience in similar roles with an ability to inspire and lead teams.

• Prepare check and review a wide range of technical documents including GIR Factual Reports ensuring adherence to the AECOM TQR process.

• Demonstrable understanding of current design codes standards and best practices in geotechnical design but also open to exploring new methods and innovations. Thorough knowledge of BS5930 and CIRIA standards is essential.

• A working knowledge of the UK Specification for Ground Investigation.

• Demonstrate excellent understanding of current UK H&S standards relating to Ground Investigation (for example: HSG47 PAS128)

• Demonstrate understanding of challenges and rules associated with working on UK railways and the planning timescales associated.  A thorough knowledge of UK Network Rail standards and safe systems of work is essential.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years experience in planning and delivering Ground Investigation projects

• BSc degree in Geology or related subject. MSc in related subject is desirable

• Fluency in English

• Registered with the Geological Society of London

• Detailed knowledge of development and implementation of geotechnical investigations.
