Job Summary
Dominican University of CA is seeking an experienced individual to serve as a part-time
course instructor for MSPAS Semester 1 course PA/PAL 5111 Clinical Assessment.

This course is scheduled on-campus on Monday Wednesday and Friday afternoons
from 1:00pm 4:00pm. Full-time program faculty are the lead / primary instructor(s) for
this course. The program is looking for assistance with instruction on one afternoon 3
hours per week depending on response and applicant availability. Please indicate your
availability and/or preferred weekday afternoon (i.e. Monday Wednesday and/or
Friday).
Qualifications
Responsibilities:
Teaching some aspects of the course as co-instructor as assigned by lead /
primary course instructor(s) including but not limited to: Direct lecture instruction
direct laboratory instruction or participation in shared laboratory instruction
regarding practical physical exam in a lab setting.
Evaluate and grade student work and provide feedback to students as assigned
by the lead / primary course instructor including but not limited to partial or full /
complete write-up of sample clinical cases including SOAP note procedure
note pre- or post-op evaluation note and/or complete history and physical exam.
Participate in student assessment activities including evaluation of student
history and physical exam performance in the laboratory or simulated clinical
setting.
Mentor and advise students on the progress of their projects and coursework as
assigned by the lead / primary course instructor.
Perform other duties as assigned by the lead / primary course instructor in
relation to classroom instruction and/or student assessment per course syllabus
Uphold academic performance standards and integrity as outlined in the MSPAS
Program Handbook.
Course Descriptions:
DUOC Catalog description PA/PAL 5111 Clinical Assessment:
The cornerstone of what physician assistants do is to obtain a medical history and
perform a physical examination. As a profession we have gained recognition for our
ability to do this in an extremely organized and thorough manner many times
discovering aspects or physical findings not previously uncovered. These
lecture/laboratory courses are designed to present and teach the techniques for
performing and documenting a complete and competent history and physical
examination and to begin to interpret both historical and physical findings as applicable
to the physiologic and/or disease state of a patient. Lectures will focus on history-taking
skills including communication skills and the normal physiologic findings for each
system of the body in addition to discussing abnormal findings indicative of disease
states. The laboratory sessions will focus on practicing and mastering the skills needed
to competently perform both the medical interview and a thorough head-to-toe physical
examination as well as documentation techniques - 15-week session. Fall I - Phase I.
Successful completion of both the theory and lab components of the course is required
to pass the course.
Required Qualifications:
PA-C NP MD or DO with Masters degree or higher as per medical specialty
Current NCCPA certification (PA) or current board certification (NP MD DO).
Emeritus status will be considered.
Active and unencumbered license in area of specialty.
Minimum 2 Years of clinical experience in advanced medical practice field as per
degree and certification noted above.
Competence in use of Google Suite: Docs Gmail Calendar Drive Sheets and
Slides.
Competence in use of Microsoft Office Suite: Excel Word and PowerPoint.
Competence in use of Zoom virtual platform including use of digital camera.
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate medical education experience or direct clinical education experience
(i.e. preceptor or resident educator) preferred.
Clinical experience in primary care urgent or emergency medicine care
including experience in pre and post-procedure examination preferred.
