The Director of Programs for Multilingual Learners oversees the strategic coordination of Multilingual Learner (ML) programs and services for grades collaboration with district leadership the Director establishes the departments vision and long-term goals ensuring all services align with established standards and instructional guidelines. Key responsibilities include providing expert guidance to teachers and school administrators coordinating community outreach and parent education initiatives and designing comprehensive professional development to support the academic success of multilingual students and their families.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the tasks knowledge and abilities required to perform this job successfully:

  • Program Leadership & Planning:
    • Maintains evaluates and improves district-wide plans and programs for all Multilingual Learners (ML) including EL students.
    • Collaborates with the Teaching and Learning Department to develop District and School Improvement plans that align with EL programming accountability targets standards-based curricula and research-based instructional practices.
    • Guides the development and implementation of all multilingual-related goals and objectives to ensure alignment with district priorities and equitable access to high-quality curriculum.
  • Compliance & Data Management:
    • Ensures full compliance with policies established by federal and state law the Vermont State Board of Education and local board policies.
    • Oversees all federal and state reporting requirements including Title III compliance.
    • Coordinates ML/EL data collection maintains accurate student records and monitors language proficiency status.
    • Manages grant-funded programs and expenditures to ensure strict adherence to regulations and guidelines.
  • Instructional Support & Assessment:
    • Provides expert coaching and support to District and school personnel regarding Multilingual Learners.
    • Oversees the screening identification and placement process for potential and identified EL students across all grade levels.
    • Coordinates testing accommodations for all annual assessments for Multilingual Learners (ML).
    • Develops and facilitates professional learning sessions on instructional methods enriched classroom learning and EL identification.
  • Collaboration & Community Engagement:
    • Consults with parents administrators counselors teachers and community agencies regarding emergent bilingual and ML students.
    • Leads Parent University
    • Collaborates with the Communications Department on multilingual-related priorities and events.
    • Supervises and deploys Multilingual Liaisons across the district to support student and family needs.
    • Partners with Human Resources to ensure the successful orientation induction and equitable staffing of ML support roles.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Job Requirements:

Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

    • Masters Degree or for VT Administrators license is a requirement of the position.
    • Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
    • Endorsement in Principal (91) or eligible for Vermont Provisional License;
    • Endorsement inMultilingual Learner (40) or eligible for Vermont Provisional License;

Required Qualifications:

    • A minimum of three (3) years successful administrator/coordinator experience.
    • A minimum of five (5) years experience as a teacher of multilingual learners.
    • Experience in supervision and administration of programs and personnel.
    • Understanding of Anti-racist teaching and leading practices and Cultural Competency.
    • Familiarity with Federal and State laws and regulations governing education of English Learners.
    • Experience using technology as a tool for the collection and analysis of data.
    • Knowledge of best practices regarding current frameworks of social emotional learning and support.
    • Experience working with multilingual students and families with a variety of backgrounds and needs.
    • Knowledgeable about Professional Learning Communities and the has the skills needed to facilitate professional development in best practices for multilingual learners.
    • Excellent interpersonal oral communication and written skills.
    • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of curriculum development and program evaluation to support effective instructional strategies.

Preferred Attributes:

    • Training and/or experience with English Language Learners.
    • Experience implementing collaborative and inclusive practices.

    • Experience in a professional/teaching learning community or similar learning community.

    • Experience in budget planning and fiscal management of resources.

    • Evidence of implementing inclusive practices for students with special needs.
    • Ongoing educational post graduate coursework in education or subject area including diversity equity and inclusion.

EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS/TERMS:

  • SALARY:This is a salaried position paidBi-Weekly.
  • SCHOOL YEAR:12 months 261 workdays (based on start date) 8 per day/40 per week
  • BENEFITS:Benefits eligible on start date. 30 days to enroll in coverage from start Benefits!
  • PAID TIME:Sick Time / Personal Time / Vacation Time. As per thePersonnel Manual.
