The Systems Integration Engineer (Electrical) Wind Fleet Support provides cross-functional engineering expertise across wind turbine subsystems in conjunction with manufacturing sourcing and sites to ensure the successful role out of GE Vernovas workhorse wind turbine fleet. This role drives resolution of product quality manufacturing and installation issues through root cause analysis as well as providing on-site dispositions to manufacturing teams for resolution of non-conformance and product quality inquiries.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
The Systems Integration Engineer will work as part of the electrical engineering subsystem design team in support of new production and installed turbines in the field.
Primary duties will include:
- Coordination across the electrical subsystem design team to ensure sub-assemblies are working together as expected/designed during assembly and testing in the factory as well as in field during operation.
- Provide on-site dispositions to manufacturing teams for resolution of non-conformance and product quality inquiries.
- Drive and/or execute design updates to schematics BOMs components installation procedures and designs to improve manufacturability installation and quality of end products.
- Ensure timely issue resolution and drive root cause analysis corrective actions and preventative actions when necessary.
- Consult with engineering design owners to provide dispositions for complex quality issues.
- Drive continuous improvement through supporting product design and manufacturing lean activities and ensure requirements lessons learned quality and safety improvements are integrated into our designs.
- Perform fit-up testing and validation at manufacturing and wind turbine sites on sub-system or component level.
- Support execution of PAC service cases RCAs and Quality programs to drive turbine reliability and performance. Work closely with the Fleet Performance Management team to resolve complex sub-system field issues that involve manufacturing quality.
- Support part replacement evaluation and disposition in the factory or at the wind site.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical engineering or similar field or related discipline (OR military training OR Associates degree in a technical field)
- Minimum of 4 years of significant engineering or other technical experience
Physical Requirement:
- Ability and willingness to climb wind turbines and work at heights as required.
Travel Requirement:
- Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time across North America. Global travel possible.
Desired Characteristics
- Engineering or technical experience in wind turbine electronics.
- Experience in electrical testing equipment
- Project management skills
- Solid background in electrical design engineering with good electrical sense and fundamental base
- Solid knowledge of wind turbine design assembly and manufacturing or similar industry.
- Strong communication presentation and leadership skills.
- Ability to work with global team members across cultural boundaries
- Fluent English written and spoken.
- Experience with electrical systems & designs testing and wiring.
- Technical drawing and design interpretation background.
