Job Summary

FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU) a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia invites applications for the position of Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Fort Valley State University the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County the original site of the states peach industry. JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management (AVP-EM) serves as a senior leader within the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and reports directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. This position provides strategic vision leadership and operational oversight for the Universitys enrollment enterprise including Admissions and Recruitment and Financial Aid.

The AVP-EM is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive data-informed enrollment management strategy that supports institutional growth access retention and student success. This role ensures a coordinated student-centered approach across the enrollment lifecycle-from prospect development through matriculation-aligned with Fort Valley State Universitys mission as Georgias only 1890 Land-Grant institution.

The AVP-EM will collaborate extensively with Academic Affairs Institutional Research Marketing Business and Finance and student success units to advance enrollment goals optimize systems and enhance the overall student experience.

MAJOR DUTIES

Strategic Leadership & Enrollment Planning

  • Provides leadership in the development implementation and evaluation of the Universitys comprehensive enrollment management plan.
  • Leads strategic enrollment planning including forecasting yield optimization and market expansion.
  • Uses data analytics to inform recruitment strategies enrollment projections and institutional decision-making.

Admissions Recruitment & Financial Aid Oversight

  • Provides executive oversight of Admissions Recruitment and Financial Aid operations.
  • Ensures alignment of recruitment strategies with institutional goals and market demand.
  • Oversee development and execution of undergraduate transfer and international recruitment strategies.
  • Ensures compliance with federal state and University System of Georgia policies related to financial aid and admissions.
  • Collaborates on scholarship strategy and financial aid leveraging to optimize enrollment outcomes.

Operational Excellence & Systems Management

  • Directs the implementation and optimization of enrollment technologies including CRM systems and reporting tools.
  • Establishes operational strategies to improve efficiency productivity and customer service within enrollment units.
  • Promotes a culture aligned with the Universitys GOLD STANDARD of service and excellence.
  • Develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards for enrollment performance.
  • Prepares and presents reports to senior leadership and cabinet.

Collaboration & Student-Centered Engagement

  • Works collaboratively with Academic Affairs (including Registrar) Student Success/Advising Institutional Research and Marketing to ensure a seamless student experience.
  • Supports initiatives that enhance retention persistence and completion.

External Relations & Representation

  • As a university ambassador this role builds and maintains relationships with alumni parents community leaders school systems and external partners.
  • Establishes partnerships with high schools two-year colleges and community organizations to expand enrollment pipelines.
  • Manages the FVSU Dual Enrollment Program.

Leadership & Administration

  • Provides supervision leadership and professional development for enrollment management team.
  • Review and establish departmental policies procedures based on best practices.
  • Ensures effective resource allocation and budget management across enrollment units.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  • Knowledge of strategic enrollment management principles including recruitment admissions and financial aid leveraging.
  • Knowledge of higher education policies including University System of Georgia and federal regulations (e.g. FERPA Title IV).
  • Knowledge of data analytics enrollment forecasting and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems and enrollment technologies.
  • Knowledge of student success and retention strategies.
  • Skill in leadership supervision and organizational management.
  • Skill in data-informed decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Skill in building collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Skill in oral and written communication including executive-level presentations.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management assigns work in terms of institutional goals and strategic priorities. The AVP operates with a degree of autonomy and is evaluated based on outcomes effectiveness of enrollment strategies and achievement of enrollment targets.

GUIDELINES

Guidelines include the University System of Georgia policies Board of Regents Policy Manual federal financial aid regulations institutional policies and best practices in enrollment management. This position exercises independent judgment in interpreting and applying guidelines and develops internal procedures.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

  • The work consists of complex strategic and operational leadership responsibilities across multiple enrollment functions.
  • The position requires balancing competing priorities interpreting complex data and leading institutional change initiatives.
  • Success in this role directly impacts institutional enrollment growth financial sustainability and student success outcomes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible leadership experience in enrollment management admissions financial aid or related student success
  • Demonstrated success in strategic enrollment planning and execution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five or more years of experience in higher education including upper-level leadership.
  • Proven experience managing complex enrollment operations and achieving measurable enrollment growth.
  • Experience with CRM systems predictive analytics and enrollment technologies.
