Job Title: Director of Surgical Services
Location: Dickson TN
Salary Range: $98000 $157000 annually (based on experience)
Position Overview
The Director of Surgical Services provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient-centered care across all surgical service lines. This role is responsible for overseeing department operations staffing financial performance and clinical excellence while fostering a culture of accountability collaboration and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Quality & Compliance
- Lead the implementation of evidence-based practices to improve patient safety and clinical outcomes
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory accreditation and legal standards
- Develop implement and enforce policies procedures and clinical care standards
- Monitor performance metrics and drive continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Oversee proper maintenance and regulatory compliance of surgical equipment
Operations & Patient Care Delivery
- Direct daily operations across Surgical Services including OR PACU Endoscopy PAT and Same Day Surgery
- Optimize patient throughput through efficient scheduling forecasting and care coordination
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels based on patient acuity and volume
- Promote strong interdisciplinary collaboration across departments
Patient Experience
- Lead initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction and overall experience
- Leverage patient feedback and benchmarking data to identify improvement opportunities
- Implement strategies to ensure consistent high-quality patient interactions
Leadership & People Management
- Build and sustain a high-performing engaged team culture
- Provide coaching mentorship and professional development opportunities
- Lead recruitment retention and workforce planning initiatives
- Ensure alignment with organizational mission vision and values
Growth & Strategic Development
- Collaborate with physicians and executive leadership to expand surgical services
- Identify opportunities for new programs technologies and service lines
- Support initiatives to increase surgical volume and market competitiveness
Financial Oversight
- Lead budget planning including revenue forecasting staffing and capital expenditures
- Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed
- Manage labor productivity scheduling efficiency and cost control measures
- Identify and execute cost-saving strategies while maintaining quality care
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree (required)
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing (required)
- Masters Degree (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a leadership role (Director or Manager) within Surgical Services in an acute care setting
- Minimum 3 years of experience in acute care surgical services
