Summary:

Routing of school buses scheduling special trips supervision of drivers and mechanical repair and maintains and promotes good community relations.

Qualifications:

• Valid commercial drivers license with CDL/bus driver endorsement required.
• Knowledge of school bus traffic laws safety. Mechanics and routing required.

Responsibilities:

• Establish effective relationships with all district staff parents and the community.
• Keeps informed of new techniques and operations regarding the transportation department.
• Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of assigned staff including but not limited to scheduling work assignments assessment of work performance provide assistance and support as needed.
• Make periodic on-site bus inspection. Involvement in annual bus inspections made by the Michigan State Police inspector.
• Arrange and conduct periodic bus driver safety meetings.
• Responsible for preparation of accident reports and notifying central office administration.
• Secure train and assign substitute bus drivers.
• Schedule routine maintenance of buses and supervise bus mechanic.
• Assist with bus purchase specifications.
• Investigate parent complaints. Route student discipline concerns through building administrators.
• Schedule academic and athletic field trips.
