Job Type: Contract Travel
Duration: 13 Weeks (with possible extension)
Schedule
- 40 hours per week
- 8-hour shifts between:
- Monday Friday: 5:45 AM 5:30 PM
- Saturday: 6:45 AM 12:15 PM
- Occasional weekends and holidays as needed
Job Summary
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Patient Service Technician (Phlebotomy) to perform blood collection procedures in a safe accurate and efficient manner. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality patient care and maintaining specimen integrity for laboratory testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages
- Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling of specimens
- Handle process and prepare specimens for transport and testing
- Follow all infection control safety and compliance protocols
- Maintain patient comfort and provide excellent customer service
- Accurately document procedures in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Collaborate with healthcare staff including nurses and physicians
- Assist with basic clerical and administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program preferred
- Phlebotomy certification (e.g. ASCP NHA or equivalent) preferred or required per facility guidelines
- Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience preferred (hospital or clinical setting strongly preferred)
- Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary collection techniques
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Familiarity with EMR systems is a plus
- Knowledge of specimen handling infection control and safety standards
