Mid Atlantic Internship Consortium (MAIC)
The MAIC is an APA-accredited internship dedicated to offering doctoral psychology internships that train future professionals in acquiring broad-based clinical skills and competencies that are evidence-based ethically sound and culturally sensitive. MAIC is a dedicated group of psychological service providers located in Maryland Virginia and Washington DC. The consortium is partially affiliated with The Chicago School Washington DC Campus. MAIC has multiple site members and provides several intern positions each year ranging from 18-25 positions. To date MAIC has trained over 300 interns. MAIC has been a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) since 2006 and has been an American Psychology Association (APA) accredited internship since 2015.
MAIC ascribes to a practitioner-scholar model of training with a philosophy including developmental training experiences and shared resources. MAIC provides learning experiences to interns and evaluates their performance based on the nine profession-wide competencies (PWCs) consistent with the APA Standards on Accreditation: (1) Research (2) Ethical and Legal Standards (3) Individual and Cultural Diversity (4) Professional Values Attitudes and Behaviors (5) Communication and Interpersonal Skills (6) Assessment (7) Intervention (8) Supervision and (9) Consultation and Interprofessional/Interdisciplinary Skills.
The Director for MAIC is responsible both for the departments daily operations as well as meeting goals for ongoing quality improvement program development and expansion.
Principle duties:
Program administration
Training Director for consortium-based training programs
APA and APPIC Accreditation documentation and compliance (e.g. self-study annual reports substantial change notifications)
Organize and manage APPIC selection process.
Development of policies and procedures that ensure compliance with relevant entities
Marketing and communications
Utilization reporting to internal and external constituents
Maintenance of all training records
Execution of alumni request for internship verifications (e.g. licensure credential banking employment verification)
Training
Leadership of internship program Oversight Committee
Supplemental clinical supervision of doctoral interns
Leadership development and coordination of the internships (mostly) in-person Central Training Day.
Coordination or provision of Central Training group supervision for doctoral interns
Support site supervisors in planning developing and delivering didactic training as part of the Central Training program.
Consultation to supervisors administration and community partners regarding training and licensure issues
Track and communicate regarding intern progress toward internship completion
Site management
Management of community partner relations
Site development
Contract management
Liaison among sites students and supervisors
Site evaluation
Ensure site consistency in adherence to MAIC training requirements
Position Qualifications:
3 years of professional experience in clinical practice student training and supervision consultation project management or related fields
Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
Currently licensed as a psychologist and in good standing. Licensed or licensed-eligible in Washington DC.
Ability to travel to academic and consortium site locations
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral level licensed clinical psychologist in Washington DC in good standing
5 years of experience in clinical practice; student training and supervision; and consultation program evaluation and/or project management.
Experience with APA accreditation processes.
