The University of Portland Department of International Languages & Cultures invites applications for Adjunct Instructors to teach medical Spanish courses. This position requires course instruction with three in-person class contact hours per week per section maintaining regular availability to meet with students and participation in department orientation and trainings. Specific courses include SPN 380 Medical and Public Health Spanish which focuses on vocabulary specific to human physiology and pathology public health issues affecting Latino communities and continued professionalization of spoken and written Spanish; and SPN 480 Introduction to Medical Interpretation which is the capstone of the medical Spanish minor and introduces students to sight translation and consecutive interpretation in healthcare contexts while continuing vocabulary acquisition. Adjunct Instructors are hired on a per semester basis and teach assigned Medical Spanish courses not to exceed six credit hours (or equivalent) per semester.
