Annual Salary: $77487 $7500 sign-on bonus
Shift Premium: Additional $2.50/hour for evening overnight and weekend hours
Work Hours: 11:00 PM 7:30 AM with alternating weekends
The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is currently seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our regional crisis stabilization program at The BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center in Hampton VA. This full-time overnight position offers the opportunity to provide essential care to individuals facing acute mental health and co-occurring substance use challenges in a supportive team-based setting.

ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION
Since 1971 the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided essential community-based services across the Peninsula. We serve individuals living with mental health conditions developmental disabilities and substance use disorders through a comprehensive continuum of care.
The BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center is designed to serve individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. It offers a range of urgent care services including therapy medication management suicide prevention and crisis intervention. Unlike traditional emergency rooms the facility emphasizes a peaceful and therapeutic atmosphere.
POSITION SUMMARY
As an overnight RN in the crisis stabilization center you will provide direct nursing care to adults in acute behavioral health crisis. Youll partner closely with the psychiatrist and interdisciplinary team to manage medications monitor patient status and support stabilization efforts. Responsibilities include completing comprehensive health assessments implementing and updating individualized care plans and ensuring safe and accurate medication administration. You will coordinate medical services such as referrals and follow-up care respond to urgent situations and offer crisis intervention and emotional support to both clients and their families.
This role plays a key part in helping individuals regain stability and transition safely to the next level of care.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing
- At least one (1) year of experience in a behavioral health or psychiatric setting
- Ability to enroll as a QMHP-A Trainee within 30 days of employment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience with crisis response and psychiatric nursing preferred
