Position Overview - Corporate Director of Payroll - a strategic and operational leader responsible for the design governance accuracy and scalability of the Companys payroll function across a multi-state multi-entity platform. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer this role ensures payroll is executed with precision compliance and alignment to financial reporting requirements in a complex construction environment supporting approximately 2000 union and non-union employees. This leader will play a critical role in optimizing payroll operations inclusive of systems integration and building a high-performing payroll infrastructure that supports rapid growth in a private equity-backed organization. The position requires deep expertise in certified payroll multi-state compliance construction payroll practices and payroll accounting with a strong orientation toward continuous improvement and cross-functional partnership with Finance HR and Operations. Key Responsibilities / Requirements-

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive payroll experience including leadership of a payroll function
- Proven experience managing payroll for a multi-state workforce including both union and non-union employees
- Deep expertise in certified payroll and prevailing wage compliance requirements
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and filings across multiple jurisdictions
- Demonstrated experience leading or working within a centralized payroll function in a complex organization
- Hands-on experience with payroll systems and ERP integrations
- Strong leadership team development and change management capabilities
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience in construction infrastructure or project-based industries
- Direct experience with B2W Vista (Viewpoint) and UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) systems
- Background in private equity-backed or high-growth environments
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation a plus
- Strong analytical skills with experience supporting cost accounting and financial reporting

Essential Job Functions
1. Payroll Strategy Centralization & Leadership
- Lead the transformation of payroll operations into a standardized scalable corporate function
- Design and implement best-in-class payroll processes controls and governance aligned with finance priorities and audit standards
- Build lead and develop a team of payroll professionals including oversight of field-based payroll administrators
- Establish performance metrics service levels and accountability standards across the payroll function
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency accuracy and timeliness
2. Payroll Operations Systems & Compliance
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for 2000 employees across multiple states including union and non-union populations
- Ensure compliance with all federal state and local payroll tax regulations wage and hour laws and union agreements
- Provide subject matter expertise in certified payroll reporting including prevailing wage requirements and state-specific compliance standards
- Lead integration optimization and governance of payroll systems including B2W Vista (ERP) and UKG ensuring accurate data flow across platforms
- Ensure accurate capture and reporting of labor data from field entry (B2W) through financial reporting (Vista) and payroll processing (UKG)
- Oversee payroll audits reconciliations and year-end processes including W-2s and regulatory filings
3. Financial Alignment & Cost Accounting Integration
- Partner closely with finance to ensure payroll aligns with financial reporting job costing and cost accounting requirements
- Ensure payroll data is properly coded (e.g. department job cost center work comp classifications) to support accurate financial reporting and margin analysis
- Support the integrity of labor cost data flowing into the ERP system for use in financial statements and operational decision-making
- Collaborate on budgeting forecasting and labor cost analytics
- Maintain strong internal controls and documentation to support audits and compliance requirements
