Job Preview Radiology Technologists perform a variety of imaging procedures including X-ray Fluoroscopy CT and Surgery and are responsible for patient safety protocols. Our Radiology Techs function as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Responsibilities Promotes a professional image by adhering to the established dress code. Maximizes job potential by attending all mandatory education and in-service programs. Contributes to the time management of the department by being punctual to work and on assignments according to the hospital and department standards. Responsible for complying with all hospital confidentiality and HIPAA requirements relating to department and hospital medical records and patient condition. Responsible for the accurate and timely maintenance of Medical Imaging patient medical records includes Radiology Vascular and Echo Lab. Responsible for the filing and distribution of Radiology reports according to department protocol in the absence of office personnel. Responsible for performing office related duties in the absence of office staff. Technical Operations Responsibilities and Standards: Identify each patient and review each patient s requisition either hard copy or in computer systems for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information. Records pertinent data on radiologic requisition at all times. (Physician s name technologist s name date explanation for limited examination etc.) Assesses patient condition ensures patient safety through proper use of restraint/support devices. Reviews each examination for technical accuracy presents completed examination to appropriate technical staff member and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure. Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper film identification on all images. Use the computer system in documenting correctly and accurately patient information to ensure the quality of patient care according to established department protocol. Perform all necessary computer operations to ensure proper examination documentation and charges. Organize patient care and set priorities by providing critical care first and by implementing the physician s orders. Participate in the training and orientation of new employees. Ensure patient safety comfort and care through proper observation established safety rules and regulations. Requirements Graduation from an accredited/approved school of radiology Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Valid Illinois Radiology license CPR/AED and CT certifications are welcomed but not required Physical Demands Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and move between tasks. Ability to hear and converse on the phone and in person. Ability to perform fine motor tasks such as when working with the computer writing or phone tasks. Ability to twist/bend stoop/crouch and to climb or balance when moving or retrieving inventory from shelves Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds and to push/pull boxes carts or pallet jacks.
