Adjunct Small Animal Clinical Vet Tech Instructor, Veterinary Technology (Looking to hire immediately)

Job Description Summary
An instructor in this position will conduct college courses for undergraduate students in the Veterinary Medical Technology Program. This individual must possess the knowledge and skills to teach and supervise students in classroom lab and clinical settings. They must also exhibit a positive attitude toward students and the teaching process and be positive role models. Teaching within the program is often collaborative and teamwork is a must. Vet techs will provide exceptional patient care and will need to be current in the standard of care for veterinary medicine. Providing medical care to Buncombe County Animal Shelter patients as a learning experience for the students is essential.
Duties
1. Perform anesthesia and be proficient in in-patient care for routine veterinary surgical procedures. Lead and organize outpatient appointments. Strong skillset in blood draws interpreting lab samples and diagnostic testing. Confidence in leading labs with advanced skill techniques and enjoy multitasking. Our program utilizes cadavers regularly for instruction to ensure the patients in our care have students who are proficient in hands-on skills prior to working with live animals. Instructors should also feel comfortable working with new technologies and computer systems. 2. Instruct supervise and assist students in classroom lab and clinical environments incorporating knowledge expertise and flexibility to ensure safety and student learning. Work directly with the Buncombe County Animal Shelter to provide clinical experience to the students. 3. Actively participate in developing teaching materials activities and handouts for the course assigned. 4. Instruct and assist in lab or clinic by teaching or facilitation of skills or grading of skill competencies. Also acting as a veterinary technician for our clinical site. 5. Collaborate with departmental personnel and Buncombe County Animal Shelter in curriculum revisions/updates that reflect changing trends information and technologies and ensure compliance with the American Veterinary Association Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities approved standards for the curriculum and the Criteria of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. 6. Abide by policies standards goals and objectives of the College and Department. 7. Participate in assessment planning implementation and evaluation activities to improve the instructional quality of the program. 8. Practice teach and supervise students to facilitate compliance with OSHA standards related to veterinary medicine. 9. Maintain professional certification ( RVT license in the state of NC) and seek opportunities for professional development through study seminars and/or on-the-job practice. 10. Serve as resource to veterinary community and community at large. 11. Other duties as assigned. The above duties are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of the job position. Minimum Requirements
1. Associate degree in veterinary medical technology ( RVT ) 2. Minimum of one year of work experience as an RVT in veterinary medicine; 3. Unrestricted license with the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board.
