Job Summary
Our client in the engineering and industrial tooling sector is seeking a Field Service Technician to join their team in the Durbanarea. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical service Calibration maintenance and support to customers both on-site and remotely.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide technical service and support to customers through regular on-site visits including repairs and tool calibrations.
- Perform repairs and field service support on industrial power tooling and associated equipment.
- Deliver technical support during breakdowns both telephonically and on-site when required.
- Conduct calibrations and preventative maintenance in line with laboratory standards and ISO procedures.
- Plan manage and carry out the installation and commissioning of equipment at customer premises.
- Maintain accurate records of all service activities repairs and calibrations.
- Compile and submit detailed service reports on repairs breakdowns and incidents.
- Provide customers with technical advice and feedback on equipment usage and performance.
- Ensure all workshop and field service documentation is completed accurately and kept up to date.
- Work closely with the sales department to support customer requirements and service delivery.
- Program and configure tightening systems and tool controllers.
- Support integration of tools with production line software and digital systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical electrical and software-related issues within connected manufacturing environments.
- Valid drivers licence (essential)
- 2 4 years minimum working experience.
- Engineering Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent. (essential)
- Proven experience in a Field Service Technician or similar technical role.
- Mechanical systems (tools assembly equipment).
- Electrical components and systems.
- Software and digital systems (tool controllers production networks).
- PLCs or tool controllers (essential)
- Industrial power tools and tightening systems.
- Production line integration and automation environments.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues across mechanical electrical and software systems.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Good communication and customer-facing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
