Role Overview

Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Hillel of San Diego at UCSD as the Springboard Fellow. You will build one on one relationships with students plan and execute engaging events and programs around campus and help inspire students to make a commitment to Jewish life . At UCSD nearly 2000 Jewish students are woven across eight colleges and an ecosystem of over 10 Hillel student groups that reflect the incredible diversity of our campus.

At Hillel of San Diego at UCSD students dont just attend events they meet their best this role you will be the face of that experience: building a strong presence across campus meeting students where they are and helping them find their people within our community. Youll design and facilitate fun high-energy programs that are more than just great events theyre entry points into lasting relationships. This role is integral to our growth because meaningful Jewish life on campus starts with connection and you will be at the center of creating it. Youll wake up each day (or at least most) and be genuinely excited and enthusiastic about creating an inviting place that inspires students to explore experience and create vibrant Jewish lives. This is so much more than your average 9-to-5.

About The Springboard Fellowship

The Springboard Fellowship is a paid two-year fellowship that brings recent college grads with raw talent passion and skills needed to reimagine and redesign Jewish student life to college campuses across North America.

Trained in Relationship-Based Engagement Human-Centered Design and other entrepreneurial frameworks you will be exposed to the most successful initiatives from across the Hillel movement. Fellows will work with students to imagine create and refine experiences for Jewish life that dramatically impact student engagement efficiently and strategically apply and scale successful initiatives from across the movement and give birth to cutting-edge ideas that have the potential to transform how Hillel and creates inclusive spaces for #AllKindsOfJewish.

Were looking for people who embrace challenges take risks fail and learn from the past while maintaining their passion and sense of humor. Extensive Jewish education is not necessary just an interest in creating a vibrant Jewish community a commitment to learning and the desire to make a difference in the lives of students.

What Youll Do

GOALS: Short-Term Outcomes

  • Personally engage at least 350 unique Jewish students through one-on-one meetings programs and campus presence.

  • Build meaningful relationships with 100 first-year and transfer students helping them find community early in their UCSD experience.

Recruit and fill a full summer Birthright Israel bus and serve as staff to deepen student connection before during and after the trip.

Longer-Term Community-Building Outcomes:

  • Partner with Jewish Greek life and Jewish sisterhood leaders to help grow their chapters by 25% strengthening leadership pipelines and Jewish campus presence.

  • Help build and oversee Shabbat experiences that consistently engage 100 students weekly establishing Hillel as the place to be on Friday nights at UCSD.

WHAT YOULL DO:

  • Build a strong first-year and transfer pipeline. During the first six weeks of each quarter you will proactively identify meet and onboard new students tabling hosting coffee chats tracking engagement and helping them form real friendships that anchor them in Jewish life early.

  • Make Shabbat the place to be. Partner with student leaders and Shabbat committees to design and execute high-level high-energy Shabbat experiences that consistently engage 100 students. Youll bring intentionality to everything from theme and atmosphere to catering and flow ensuring Shabbat feels warm magnetic and unforgettable.

  • Oversee and grow Jewish Greek life and student clubs. Serve as the primary staff partner for Jewish Greek life and other student groups helping chapters grow by 25% strengthening leadership and expanding Hillels presence across campus.

  • Recruit and prepare students for Birthright Israel. Lead recruitment efforts alongside the team to fill a full summer bus and create meaningful pre- and post-trip engagement so Birthright becomes a launch point for deeper Jewish involvement.

  • Meet students where they are. Maintain a visible campus presence through tabling coffee dates and collaboration with social engagement interns who are connecting peers to Jewish life.

Teach and facilitate Jewish learning. Lead or co-teach the Jewish Learning Fellowship and serve as the primary Jewish educator and role model on campus integrating learning into experiences that feel accessible relevant and inspiring.

What Youll Bring to the Job

  • 0 -3 years professional work experience
  • Bachelors degree
  • This is an in-person role location in San Diego California; remote work is not available for this position
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit. Things may not always go according to plan and you must be willing to take risks and learn your wins as well as your losses.
  • Confidence initiating and running programs and comfort asking questions.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams both inside and outside of Hillel.
  • Willingness to admit what you dont know and excitement to learn in those areas.
  • Creative problem-solving.
  • Excitement to continue developing your own relationship to Judaism.

What Youll Receive

  • Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $46000 - $50000 in year one of the Fellowship and the salary range is $48000- $53000 in year two of the Fellowship.
