About the team

At Stripe theOperator Tooling teamplays a critical role as the Guardians of the Financial Ecosystem. We buildintricate solutionsto streamline Stripes internal workflows enabling over8000 human agentsto make informed decisions about how different actors use our productsensuring compliance with laws and Stripes work tackleshigh-impact challenges such as enabling the efficient decision making and action on preventing illegal transactions (e.g. frauddrugs weapons andterrorism financing) and and other risks in the financial landscapeall with the goal of resolving issues quickly and correctly for our merchants and their clients.
We operate across multiple products with a tech stack that includesRuby React GraphQL and MongoDB alongside essential tools likeGitHub Logscale and Grafana.

• Recruit coach and develop a team of exceptional engineers.
• Lead the development of Stripes operations tooling providing reliable user-first surfaces that just feel natural
• Cultivating a culture of engineering excellence innovation and user empathy
• Drive your engineering team towards exceptional technical quality reliability scalability and operational excellence.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership to your engineering team across multiple areas including architecture design code reviews quality assurance and incident management.

Who you are

Minimum requirements

• 8 years of professional hands-on software development experience
• 2 years of experience leading software engineering teams
• Hands-on experience designing and building large scale distributed systems
• A track record of managing and mentoring junior and senior engineers
• Customer obsession ability to articulate and represent customer experience in various forums to drive the right outcome that benefits our customers.
• A track record of attracting and hiring top talents and growing teams
• Demonstrated ability of defining & driving complex initiatives/projects across multiple teams
• Proven success with cross-discipline and cross-team collaborations.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience building and operating highly-scalable data-intensive services.
• Experience building and operating observability solutions such designing/building telemetry collections data transport and storage solutions and composable UI architectures.

Its not expected that youll have deep expertise in every dimension above but you should be interested in learning any of the areas that are less familiar.
