About the Role:

Wileysprestigiouslife sciencesportfoliois looking foradynamic and ambitious individualto join the team inthe role ofEditor in ChiefAgriculture.You will use your background in scientific research your knowledge of the publishing landscape and yourstrongcommunicationand networking skills to drivethe strategic development ofone or more journals raising the profile and visibility of thosejournal(s) in the community and attracting new authors and content. TheEditor in Chiefwillalsobeinvolved in the peer review process and decision-making ofsubmittedmanuscripts and ensures adoption of best practices and highest ethical standards in publishing.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leverage your network knowledge of the subject area and its development and desk research skills to drive content acquisition and submissions growth across theagriculture and ecology portfolio.

  • Strategically develop one or more journalsfrom scientific and publishing perspectives within the context of the broaderagriculture and ecologyjournalsportfolio.

  • Establish andmaintaina strong network of scientists who are thejournalsauthors peerreviewersand board members.

  • Represent Wileyandtheagricultureportfolioat conferencesandthroughin-person and virtualoutreach activities at universities and research institutes.

  • Contributeto the editorial evaluationpeer review and decision making formanuscriptssubmittedtoseveraljournals.

  • Collaborate withyourmanager and colleagues toestablishateamculture of trustrespectand high performance.

What we are looking for:

  • A PhD degree inAgriculture Agronomy Agroecologyor related field andwith an excellent research background and a strong understanding ofrecent trendsand developments.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills with a flexible and innovative approach to problems and a focus on defining and achieving outcomes.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative setting and achieve results through personal influence and engagement.

  • A self-motivated diplomatic and flexibleapproachwithoutstanding organizationalandtime management skills andanexcellent command of the English language (both written and verbal).

  • A strong understanding ofscientificpublishingincluding commissioning and the peer-review process. Prior experience in the publishing industry is highly desired.

  • A keen interest in science communication andstrong desiretoadvocate for innovations in publishing and open research.

  • Confidence to present and represent thejournalportfolio at conferences and through institute visits nurture existing contacts and develop new networks including the willingness to travel.

The range below represents Wileys good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the United Kingdom Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to geographic location skills and competencies.
