Basic Job Functions:
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
This position will support the 5 branches in NRF Southcentral Region and may be seated within of any of the following locations: Dallas TX; Dayton TX; Jewett TX; Slidell LA; or Flowood MS.
Basic Job Functions:
The role of the Buyer for Nucor Rebar Fabrication (NRF) is to be primarily responsible for the purchasing activities for a region of fabrication shop branches by coordinating purchases across the region negotiating prices and managing customer relationships with vendors.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with key providers of rebar accessories; bar; shop and office supplies; and maintenance items.
- Negotiate pricing and recommend options for increased cost savings for NRF.
- Coordinate and collaborate with branch leadership throughout the region to ensure proper supply levels are in place for optimal branch success.
- Analyze and review inventory levels and suggest effective inventory levels for each location to maximize shop productivity while balancing cost concerns.
- Oversee the work of a Purchasing Assistant through daily and routine task assignments including timely invoice coding and processing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of experience in a Buyer/Purchasing role in a manufacturing or construction environment
- Proven ability to negotiate volume pricing or discounts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with contractual language and contract review
- Experience supporting procurement across multiple locations/states
