Job Summary
Automotive Detail Manager is responsible for overseeing vehicle cleaning restoration and finishing operations to ensure high-quality presentation. Manages detailing staff maintains workflow efficiency inspects completed work and upholds company standards for cleanliness and customer satisfaction. Coordinates scheduling inventory and equipment maintenance while delivering consistent showroom-quality results.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise train and lead detailing staff to ensure high-quality performance
- Assign daily tasks and manage workflow to meet deadlines and productivity goals
- Inspect completed vehicles to ensure they meet company quality standards
- Oversee all detailing services including exterior washes waxing polishing interior cleaning and specialty treatments
- Maintain and enforce proper detailing procedures and safety protocols
- Schedule detailing jobs and coordinate with sales and service departments
- Monitor turnaround times and ensure timely delivery of vehicles
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies chemicals and equipment
- Order supplies and ensure proper storage and handling of materials
- Maintain and service detailing tools and equipment
- Address customer inquiries concerns and complaints professionally
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and service quality
- Track performance metrics such as productivity efficiency and quality scores
- Control departmental costs and assist with budget management
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations
- Train staff on proper chemical use and workplace safety standards
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and quality
- Maintain records of completed work and staff performance
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 35 years of hands-on automotive detailing experience
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Experience in a dealership body shop or high-volume environment is a plus
- Strong knowledge of detailing techniques (washing waxing buffing paint correction interior cleaning)
- Familiarity with detailing tools equipment and chemicals
- Understanding of advanced services (ceramic coatings paint protection film)
- Ability to identify paint defects and proper correction methods
- Proven ability to lead train and motivate a team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to handle customer concerns professionally
- Experience with scheduling and workflow coordination
- Inventory management and supply tracking skills
- Basic computer skills for reporting and tracking performance
- Knowledge of safety procedures and environmental regulations

- Comfortable working in various weather conditions
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
- Flexibility to work weekends or extended hours as needed
