Job Summary:

1. Evaluate students with motor impairments in addition to planning and implementing interventions so that these students may access the education curriculum in the least restrictive environment.
2. Develop and demonstrate culturally responsive practices that lead to equitable outcomes for all students particularly those groups of students that are over-represented in special education.
3. Demonstrate current knowledge of instructional best practices and methodology for school based Physical Therapy (PT).
4. Employ high expectations for students using a variety of instructional techniques.
5. Collaborate with others to plan teach and support students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
6. Advocate for students with disabilities to ensure high levels of achievement.
7. Promote and develop strong communication and collaboration with staff parents and other professionals.
8. Independently organize work as an itinerant staff member.
9. Carry out responsibilities as defined by the master contract.

Qualifications:

1. Current license by the Minnesota Board of Physical Therapy.
2. Experience working in a school setting or with children ages birth through 21.
3. Experience working with and providing service to persons of diverse cultures races and socioeconomic backgrounds.
4. Ability to work efficiently effectively and cooperatively with multidisciplinary teams.
5. Strong oral and written communication skills.
6. Strong organization and time management skills
7. Ability to relate positively to students staff and community.
8. Ability to follow directions and procedures and facilitate collaborative teaming around students.
9. Ability to collaborate with teams to write and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
10. Ability to collaborate with nursing staff to support and perform the necessary delegated health tasks.
11. Ability to direct the work of paraprofessionals and an understanding of practices for training and supporting paraprofessionals.
12. Knowledge of best practices in the field of physical therapy in educational settings.
13. Understanding and ability to conduct an evaluation and determine if a student shows a need for physical therapy services.
14. Thorough understanding of the laws rules and regulations of special education.
15. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of weight.
16. Valid drivers license and ability to provide travel for self between locations.
17. Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally ethnically racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.
