About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Lead Aquatic Sciences the Environmental Technician is responsible for supporting aquatic effects monitoring and scientific investigative field programs including water quality benthic invertebrate and fish sampling. This role involves working with our mining operations consulting teams running field programs and other groups in the broader EVR team. This role also offers a combination of field and office work allowing diversity in your everyday tasks. You will also be responsible for supporting data management initiatives including quality assurance and control liaison with analytical laboratories and compliance reporting.
To be successful we require someone who is highly organized and who thrives in a fast-paced team environment. They must have strong analytical and decision-making abilities with a capacity for practical problem solving. Most importantly we require someone who has strong communication skills who can communicate effectively with environment teams at operations with contractors and with consulting teams to complete work efficiently and safely. The position requires a broad scientific interest technical skills and support for project management.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Participate in and supervise monitoring and other sampling programs to support regulatory commitments and requirements.
- Support management of data quality from field collection to reporting. This includes supporting field teams in data naming procedures and working closely with multiple laboratories to confirm accurate reports for upload to database.
- Carry out environmental data entry review and management in our EQuIS database
- Participate in field investigations inspections and audits
- Provide technical administrative and project management support as well as contractor supervision
- Develop and review environmental health and safety documents and protection plans Adhere to environmental procedures and standardized protocols
Requirements:
- Minimum two years of experience in the field of environmental compliance or monitoring
- Diploma or Degree in Environmental Studies Earth Sciences (Biology Geography Geology Forestry Agriculture) or Natural Resource field
- Experience with environmental data management software (GIS/EQuIS) is an asset
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with provincial and federal environmental legislation an asset.
- Ability to be adaptable and to work efficiently and independently in outdoor remote locations in inclement weather conditions
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent
Salary: $80 160/Year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidates relevant experience skills and competencies and considers internal equity.
