HVAC Control Technician

Works under the supervision a Trades/Maintenance Coordinator and with other Facilities Technicians to maintain and improve the Heating Ventilation and Air-Conditioning systems in the Facilities Healthcare Zone buildings focused on Vista Pavilion. This includes the routine and preventative maintenance repair and upgrade of HVAC systems and control systems and the associated administrative duties such as ordering parts setting priorities for service requests training other employees and attending meetings related to changes and impacts to the HVAC system. As this is a critical position in the department presence during all hospital emergencies is expected and required.

• Installation Repair and Maintenance of Control Systems
  • Responds to HVAC systems complaints performs troubleshooting of systems calibrates all environment temperature pressure and humidity controls.
  • Checks adjusts and recalibrates environmental controls as part of the preventative maintenance program.
• Installation Repair and Maintenance of HVAC Systems
  • Installs and modifies HVAC systems.
  • Performs corrective and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems.
  • Cleans oils and greases equipment such as pumps motors air compressors and fans.
  • Checks and replaces V belts and filters.
  • Adjusts dampers linkages and operators.
  • Rebuilds and repairs valves.
• HVAC System and Control Systems Renovation
  • Renovates and upgrades HVAC systems and control systems to accommodate new technology and/or energy conservation.
  • Plans and coordinates activities during system shutdown.
• Administrative Duties
  • Prepares job estimates.
  • Keeps accurate record of tests inspections repairs and equipment replacement.
  • Orders new HVAC parts supplies and equipment and maintains parts inventory.
  • Sets priorities for service requests trains other employees on technical info required to perform maintenance on HVAC systems and control systems attending meetings related to changes and impacts to the HVAC system.
• Customer Service
  • Assumes role as primary customer service representative for all Facilities & Logistics operations and services on assigned Work Orders responding to both internal and external customers in a timely effective and professional manner developing positive working relationships.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Graduation from an accredited school (two-year program) in heating and air-conditioning; and

• Two years of full-time experience installing altering calibrating repairing and maintaining HVAC control systems and performing corrective and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems.

  • Two additional years of qualifying experience may be substituted for the two years of education.

• Drivers license valid in the state of Oregon.

• Experience/knowledge working with Siemens and/or Johnson Controls Building Automation Systems.

• General knowledge of standard practices tools hazards and safety precautions of mechanical trades and HVAC controls trade.

• General knowledge of State and local building code requirements pneumatic electrical/electronic controls air balancing flow measurement devices and HVAC application software.

• Skill in the use of tools materials and equipment used in the HVAC systems and HVAC control systems trades ability to read and comprehend blueprints drawings logic diagrams schematics specifications codes handbooks and written operational sequences; skill in locating defects adjusting installing and maintaining HVAC control systems and equipment the ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions and the ability to fabricate parts.

• CFC Certification LME Low Voltage License EPA Certification.

Normal duties require 40 hours per week. The position does require the ability of the incumbent to be able to respond to on-call assignments overtime and after hours or emergency call-backs as needed.
