Job Summary
This role in our firm is crucial to providing quality legal representation for clients in an efficient compassionate and expert manner. This is an entry-level role designed to expose the Junior Associate Attorney to the inner workings of a practicing law firm various types of cases and assignments and help build knowledge and expertise about practicing family law in Texas. This role typically does not have lead attorney responsibilities including being solely responsible for client case management. This role involves being mentored in preparation for ultimately assuming those responsibilities.
- Prepare and finalize a wide range of legal documents including pleadings briefs memorandums orders discovery and reports
- Research legal issues and prepare a memorandum regarding the analysis of the same
- Monitor prioritize organize and facilitate daily workflow for self; do the same for paralegal support staff as applicable to assigned tasks/cases
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clients attorneys paralegals firm personnel and court personnel
- Attend meetings with clients to assess their needs; participate in strategizing and developing a plan for achieving clients goals; assist in preparing clients for case proceedings as requested; be accessible to clients as needed throughout their cases progression as requested
- Monitor case dockets calendar events and deadlines as requested
- Assist lead attorneys in preparing for hearings trials conferences mediations as requested; collaborate with paralegals and support staff regarding same; attend same when able or requested
- Attend observe and assist in hearings trials conferences and mediations when able or requested
- Assist lead attorneys in preparing for mediations coordinating with mediator opposing counsel and client when requested
- Manage own calendars; oversee the scheduling of appointments hearings as requested; oversee tracking of deadlines and time-sensitive tasks as requested
- Timely review of own time entries and firm client invoices to ensure accuracy
- Participate as necessary in addressing accounts receivable balances on assigned client cases
- Participate in marketing activities including networking opportunities and events observing and participating in potential client consultations maintaining contact with former clients and lead sources as requested and other marketing activities as requested
- Attend continuing education seminars and workshops to further professional development and maintain CLE status; share resources with the team
- Comply with all federal state county and local laws legal standards codes and regulations
- Sustain membership in the area Bar associations and relevant practice groups as requested and approved
- Comply with the Firms Policies and Procedures
- Ability to exemplify the collaborative mission of the firm in cooperating with our team the legal community and the judiciary; maintenance of personal and firm integrity
- Growing knowledge of Family Law and the Texas Family Code legal terminology processes documents case flow and case law

- Proficient with Microsoft Suite Adobe Acrobat; experience with Clio is a plus
A J.D. from an accredited law school a license to practice law in the state of Texas and an active membership in the State Bar of Texas are mandatory.
