Community Liaison Worker (Canada Summer Job) Saskatoon

The CommunityLiaisonWorker (Canada Summer Job) willparticipatein programsandfacilitatingcommunity related events which are essential to the alleviation of poverty and homelessness and build healthy relationships between stakeholders in The Mustard Seeds diverse community.

The position will promote education and awareness to the wider public on local social issues such as poverty and homelessness. Specifically they will help run educational programs inner-city immersion educational experiences for youth groups who will serve and learn with The Mustard Seed community. They willsupport inthe development of virtual social issues walks and will support The Mustard Seeds basic services including a meal program and clothing center.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and implement community engagement activitiesto churchesbusinessand community groups
• Jointly organizeevents &activities with the external and internal resources
• Deliver Community Engagement workshops and presentations as needed
• Facilitate learning opportunities to help youth better understand the issues of poverty and homelessness in their own community andequip youth to deepen theirengagement with local agencies andcauses
• Represent The Mustard Seed to theworkerscommunity of faith
• Attend staff meetingsand other training asrequired
• Other duties asassigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Passion for fostering a deeper understanding of poverty and homelessness in churches and the community
• Empathy for the poor and a desire for greater understanding concerning poverty and justice issues in an urbancenter
• Completing post-secondary studies in ministry social work education community development youth and childcare studies or a related program
• Strong computercommunicationandconflict resolution skills
• Interest and skills in recreational activities such as sports or gardeningisan asset
• Strong teambuilding and leadership skills
• Must be currently enrolled infulltimein apost-secondary program and fully intending to return tofulltimestudies in the fall of2026
• Between the ages of 18-30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
• This posting will fillonepositionof280 hoursand is temporaryfromapproximatelyJune 8 2026-August32026and it is a requirement that interns can attend all8weeks

WORKING CONDITIONS

• 35hours per week;someeveningand weekendhoursmaybe requiredto accommodate the hours of the community hubs
• Facilitatingmulti-day service-learning experiences for students throughout the summer
• Support in the design promotion and evaluation of summer programming
• Working environment will include indoor and outdoor activities office work on computer lifting and some travelwill berequired
• Physicaland mentaleffort will be moderate
• Valid Drivers License Drivers Abstract andEmployment Security Checkisrequired
• Navigating interactions with challenging clients who mayexhibitunpredictable behavior including swearing anger and the possibility of becoming aggressive
