Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a skilled and compassionate Genetic Counselor for an outpatient oncology setting. This role focuses on supporting patients at risk for hereditary cancers through genetic risk assessment counseling and testing coordination. The Genetic Counselor will serve as a key clinical resource for both patients and multidisciplinary care teams helping guide informed decision-making based on complex genetic information.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide genetic counseling to patients with potential hereditary cancer risks and genetic disorders
- Perform comprehensive cancer risk assessments and detailed family history evaluations
- Coordinate interpret and communicate genetic testing results to patients and healthcare providers
- Deliver psychosocial support education and guidance related to genetic conditions
- Act as a clinical resource for physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Collaborate with oncology and specialty teams to support individualized patient care plans
Required Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Genetic Counseling from a program accredited by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC)
- Active Washington State Genetic Counselor License
- Provisional license accepted at start; full licensure required upon completion
- Strong clinical experience in:
- Cancer risk assessment
- Genetic testing and interpretation
- Hereditary cancer syndromes and genetic disorders
- Psychosocial counseling and patient support
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with patients at risk for hereditary cancers
