Job Summary

SummaryThe role of Pressure Relief Valve Technician II involves performing advanced tasks related to the assembly testing and troubleshooting of pressure relief valves and other equipment. Responsibilities include locating using and comprehending manufacturer installation and operation manuals performing inspections to identify necessary corrective actions and operating diagnostic equipment. The technician will also support Pressure Relief Valve Technician I employees through mentoring and on-the-job training and may act in a leadership role for assigned Company Quality Standardization Procedures for all aspects of valve assembly and testingLocate use and comprehend manufacturer installation and operation manualsPerform inspection to identify necessary corrective action as authorizedPerform PMIAssemble test and troubleshoot valves and other equipment per applicable codes and standards per manufacturer and/or customer requirementsInstall instrumentation/accessories as necessaryOperate diagnostic equipment (i.e. EVT AVK Hydroset etc.)Perform calibration of measurement equipment in accordance with internal quality proceduresMeasure and record critical dimensions per manufacturer specificationsSupport Pressure Relief Valve Technician I employees through mentoring and/or on-the-job (OJT) trainingMay act in a leadership role for assigned areaPositional Requirements & QualificationsEducation & ExperienceHS Education or GED Equivalent a plus2 - 5 years of industry experienceSkills & AbilitiesMeets all Pressure Relief Valve Technician I qualifications and requirementsSuccessful completion of all applicable Quality Standardization ProceduresCompleted Green Tag Certification through Level IICompleted inspection assessmentSuccessful completion of Pressure Relief Valve Level II Written and Performance TestsCompleted Pilot Valve TrainingBasic OSHA and TWIC card (TWIC only if required)Demonstrate the ability to properly assemble and test valves/equipment of multiple pressure relief valve manufacturersDemonstrate proficient use of precision dimensional equipment (i.e. dial caliper micrometer etc.)Demonstrate ability to bend and fit tubingComplete certification training for use of Positive Material Identification (PMI) equipmentCompletion of diagnostic equipment training and/or certificationDemonstrate proficiency in operating test equipment (steam air liquid)Demonstrate proficiency in calibration of test gauges and/or transducersComplete certification of Certified Individual (CI)Effective oral & written communication skillsDemonstrated can do attitude and excellent customer service skillsEssential Physical FunctionsLifting: up to 50 poundsAdjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directionsLift and carry: 50 pounds for 100 feetBending stooping walking and climbing stairsAble to passperiodic medical evaluations and respirator fit tests to ensure continued compliance with OSHA or descending ladders stairs scaffolding rampsMoving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spacesRemaining in a stationary position often standing or sitting for prolonged periodsMoving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to anotherCommunicating with others to exchange informationRepeating motions that may include the wrists handsand/or fingersOperating machinery and/or power toolsOperating motor vehicles or heavy equipmentAssessing the accuracy neatnessand thoroughness of the work assignedRequired physical ability if mandated by customer or regulatory requirementsThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed.
