Senior Test Automation Engineer
Antwerp Belgium (Hybrid)

Overview
We are looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer with a strong focus on backend testing and integrations. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of complex distributed systems within a large enterprise environment.
This role is ideal for someone experienced in event-driven architectures API testing and automation within Java-based environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design develop and maintain automated test frameworks (Java-based)
- Perform backend testing of APIs integrations and distributed systems
- Validate asynchronous communication flows (Kafka RabbitMQ JMS etc.)
- Develop BDD scenarios (Gherkin) and implement them in automation frameworks
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Analyze debug and resolve issues in complex system landscapes
- Collaborate closely with developers analysts and architects
- Contribute to test strategy and continuous quality improvement
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience in test automation
- Strong experience with backend/API testing
- Proven experience with messaging/queuing systems (Kafka RabbitMQ JMS)
- Solid understanding of asynchronous architectures
- Strong proficiency in Java for test automation
- Experience with automation frameworks (JUnit TestNG Cucumber)
- Hands-on experience with BDD (Gherkin)
- Practical experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps Jenkins GitLab)
- Strong debugging and analytical skills
- Fluent in Dutch or French with good knowledge of English
Nice to Have
- Experience in large enterprise environments
- Knowledge of end-to-end integration testing
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
Additional Details
- Full-time role
- Hybrid working model (Brussels-based)
- Contract until December 2026 with possible extension until 2028
