The Opportunity

The Department of Physical Sciences at the Daytona Beach Campus seeks applicants for the position of Lab Manager. This position provides essential support to the department in the maintenance use and development of its teaching and research laboratory equipment. This individual is responsible for ensuring the smooth function of the departments teaching labs and assists both faculty and students in the development and implementation of new research capabilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining troubleshooting and repairing laboratory equipment and electronics (oscilloscopes power supplies optics detectors vacuum systems instrumentation etc.).

  • Supporting faculty and staff in developing setting up and adapting experiments for teaching and research.

  • Overseeing laboratory safety procedures in collaboration with faculty and the universitys safety office.

  • Coordinating with vendors for service and procurement of parts and supplies.

  • Providing technical training and guidance for faculty graduate teaching assistants and students as needed.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering physics physics engineering electronics technology or a related field or equivalent professional experience.

  • Demonstrated hands-on skills in electronics troubleshooting instrumentation and laboratory hardware maintenance.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
