Job Summary Under general supervision of the Department Head for Academic Services primary activities of this position include but are not limited to: expertly handling diverse patron inquiries from initial circulation transactions (loans returns ILLs) and reference assistance to resolving complex problems complaints and disruptive behavior; managing essential operational duties including library opening/closing procedures; scheduling student assistants for department service points and virtual reference; scheduling instructional student assistants and library spaces for information literacy instruction workshops; coordinating the scheduling operational training timesheet completion hours tracking and record retention for department student employees; and mentoring department student employees. This position will work independently to perform specialized technical duties which support daily library operations and programs. |

The team delivers user-focused programs and services that support the scholarly and creative activities of the Cal Poly community. These programs empower effective inquiry and exploration of information resources while promoting the creation collaboration and sharing of work across diverse disciplines and professional practices. Academic Services supports multiple modes of instruction and a variety of individual learning styles to help the campus community engage deeply with information and knowledge. |
Key Qualifications - Demonstrated ability to perform technical aspects of work assignments including a strong ability to interpret overall library policies and procedures and operations standards ethics and best practices as they pertain to Academic Services and individual work as well as demonstrated experience evaluating procedures and recommending changes.
- Working knowledge or understanding of library collection and its organization as well as classification schemes.
- Thorough knowledge of external online databases system and resources including the ability to perform complex online searches.
- Thorough knowledge of or ability to quickly learn institutions and librarys policies and practices associated with the ethical use of and access to library and online resources.
- Working knowledge of national standards pertaining to library operations including a thorough knowledge of or ability to quickly learn institutional standards pertaining to copyright and intellectual property protection and the ability to source apply explain and escalate issues with such policies and standards as appropriate.
- Must be reliable and flexible to work various shifts (as applicable) including weekends evenings and nights and be willing to switch shifts to meet operational needs.
- Must be able to work overtime occasional holidays and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.

Salary and Benefits Anticipated Hiring Range:$51360 - $61380 per year
Classification Range: $51360 - $74820 per year Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience skills knowledge abilities education licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs.
