The Opportunity
The Advocacy & Strategic Initiatives Intern supports the Department of Advocacy and Strategic Initiatives by contributing to research analysis and policy-related efforts that inform decision-making and advance CFUFs mission. This role provides hands-on experience in the policy research process offering exposure to legislative tracking data analysis and the development of written policy materials.
This internship is ideal for a highly motivated detail-oriented student interested in public policy research and social impact. The Intern will play a meaningful role in supporting advocacy initiatives while gaining practical experience in a collaborative mission-driven environment.
Additionally this positions broader responsibilities include:
- Supporting policy research data analysis and issue-area exploration
- Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments
- Contributing to written materials including briefs and reports
- Assisting with project coordination and administrative tracking
- Collaborating across teams to support advocacy and strategic initiatives
Schedule
Monday through Friday 9 AM to 5 PM with occasional meetings or events. This internship opportunity has a 4-week term limit. Alternate scheduling arrangements may be considered based on any academic requirements.
What to Expect from This Opportunity
- Conduct research using academic literature government resources policy reports and news sources
- Support issue-area scans and background research for ongoing policy initiatives
- Collect organize and analyze qualitative and quantitative data related to policy topics
- Assist in developing charts graphs and tables for reports and presentations
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at local state and federal levels
- Summarize policy updates and assess potential implications
- Contribute to drafting policy briefs research summaries memos and blog content
- Edit and proofread written materials to ensure clarity consistency and accuracy
- Support project coordination by tracking timelines deliverables and documentation
- Assist with logistics for meetings interviews and events related to research and dissemination
- Participate in team meetings brainstorming sessions and cross-functional initiatives
- Attend trainings briefings and relevant external events to support learning and development
- Maintain high standards of ethical research including proper citation and confidentiality
- Contribute to a culture of learning collaboration and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled undergraduate student at an accredited college or university
- Completion of at least one year of undergraduate coursework by the start of the internship
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
- Coursework or demonstrated interest in public policy research methods data analysis or a related field strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) required
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
