Technical Account Manager
Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking a results-driven Technical Account Managerto build and maintain strong long-term client relationships ensuring high levels of satisfaction while driving business growth. This role involves managing key accounts through strategic relationship building and proactive engagement identifying and resolving client needs through effective problem-solving and achieving sales targets through continuous account development. The successful candidate will also be responsible for identifying pursuing and securing new commercial clients while driving revenue growth by uncovering new opportunities within existing accounts.
Responsibilities:
Customer Account Management & Sales:
- Research and analyse each customers business and product range to develop tailored account plans
- Conduct proactive sales history analysis to understand order patterns and improve customer planning and follow-ups
- Manage stock procured for assigned accounts ensuring timely and accurate invoicing
- Maintain regular communication with customers through meetings and ongoing engagement
- Encourage product development opportunities and submit briefs to the innovation teams
- Strategise and implement value-added solutions for customers
- Travel within assigned regions to conduct in-person meetings and meet monthly targets
- Plan and lead effective customer meetings including setting agendas and documenting minutes
- Manage customer complaints and liaise with QA to ensure timely resolution
- Collaborate with the Innovations Centre on new development and application projects
- Keep customers updated on new products and services
- Submit detailed weekly and monthly sales and opportunity reports
- Provide monthly updates on pipeline development account growth and identified risks with proposed solutions
New Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities and introduce the company offering to potential customers
- Share market insights and customer feedback with the Innovations Team to support concept development and ingredient applications
- Provide regular feedback to the Human Nutrition Business Manager on market intelligence including new product opportunities services suppliers and potential offerings
Finance:
- Prepare and submit annual sales budgets for assigned accounts in line with business targets
- Monitor monthly sales performance against approved budgets
- Manage and track business travel expenses against budget and report variances
- Monitor outstanding debtors by reviewing Accounts Payable reports provided twice monthly
- Identify and report financial risks relating to customers to the Human Nutrition Business Manager
Business Intelligence Efficiency & Continuity:
- Maintain effective communication with the Human Nutrition Manager and Customer Support Administrator to ensure efficient account management
- Ensure adherence to commercial supply chain procedures and timelines for timely order fulfilment
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date opportunity pipelines and provide required reporting to principal managers
- Participate in market mapping and analysis of private label manufacturers sharing insights with commercial and management teams
- Provide regular feedback on customer challenges and recommend improvements to processes and service delivery
Food Safety & Quality Assurance:
- Maintain full understanding of the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) and attend all required training
- Comply with all food safety and quality procedures applicable to the role
- Follow food hygiene policies when entering food handling areas
- Report non-conformances to the food safety team and identify opportunities for improvement
